Biography

Dr Dorothy Lombe is a radiation oncologist at Bowen Icon Cancer Centre, providing consultation services at Crest Hospital in Palmerston North. Dr Lombe completed specialist radiation oncology training in Cape Town, South Africa, followed by a clinical and research brachytherapy fellowship in Canada before relocating to New Zealand. Alongside her practice at Icon, Dr Lombe practices at Palmerston North Hospital and is Associate Dean at the University of Otago Medical School Wellington Campus. She is actively involved in clinical research.

Dr Lombe is a Fellow of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and a member of the Scientific Committee of the Trans Tasman Radiation Oncology Group (TROG). She regularly peer-reviews for international scientific journals and contributes to both national and international cancer research. Dr Lombe accepts referrals for a wide range of solid tumour malignancies including central nervous system (CNS) cancers, lung cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, genitourinary cancer, gynaecological cancers, skin cancers, benign conditions and glioblastoma. She is experienced in the use of advanced radiotherapy techniques, including stereotactic radiotherapy and brachytherapy.
